As the founding Director of iRostrum Online Auctions Marijke has been developing and using the iRostrum online auction platform for her own business since 2011. Marijke established Maak Contemporary Ceramics in 2009, which has quickly become an internationally respected and market leading art consultancy and auction house focused on handling the very best in contemporary ceramic art. The success of Maak is a result of combining an in depth specialist knowledge of contemporary ceramic art, with unique experience of the associated auction market and a dedication to providing excellence in client experience. It is the only auction house in the UK holding regular exclusive auctions of contemporary ceramics.
Prior to establishing Maak, Marijke was Head of the Contemporary Ceramics Department at Bonham’s, which had maintained a longstanding reputation as world leaders in the field, organising regular sales of the very best in International Contemporary Ceramics in London and New York.
In addition Marijke is a Consultant Lecturer at Sotheby’s Institute of Art, contributing to the MA in Contemporary Design and the MA in Art Business as well as a number of other post-graduate courses.
Tom Hodson is an experienced Sales and Commercial Director, with over 12 years’ experience in sales, marketing and commercial partnerships.
Tom’s experience ranges from small start-up businesses to large multinational corporations throughout the advertising and media sector, gaming, and e-commerce sectors, and over the past 2 years the fine art and auction market.
He has worked with some of the world’s largest brands to deliver large scale, high end marketing solutions along with end-to-end, integrated commercial partnerships for some of the UK’s leading publishers and technology companies.
Tom’s experience in managing customer expectations and overseeing the implementation of complex business strategies for his clients has led to an advanced understanding of delivering results along with achieving and exceeding return on investment.
Having spent the past two years immersed in the fine art and auctioneering marketplace, Tom brings to iRostrum invaluable experience of the e-commerce and marketplace business models. And a clear understanding of what works, and what is needed to drive an auction business forward in the digital era.
